I’m so proud of what I do

So on the walk home from the pylons and the Chinese restaurant (I have two local ones and was comparing vegan cuisines today and yesterday) I just met a wonderful young British family. Quite rare in Luxembourg - not too rare but still a coincidence. There had actually been another family too but they had gone another way.

They were so nice to me and so interested in what I did. The best way to make me happy is to be interested in what I do.

On my 30th birthday last month, when I went up to London, I sat next to the most incredible couple in the world. They were so interested in what I did. In particular the lady.

I have never seen anyone so fascinated in my life by what I did. She was a retired GP, too! It was the best present that I have ever received in my life. I later realised that this was life’s 30th birthday present to me, when I was talking to my dad. Let me tell you that it was the best present I have ever ever had. Nothing better than people being fascinated by water and renewable energy tech.

Back to this family.

They seemed so interested in what I did. But I also told them about the forests.

They had only been living in my beautiful town for four years. And that’s when I realised. It has taken growing up surrounded by forests in all directions for me to love the earth as much as I do.

It has taken being surrounded by the beautiful forests in all directions for me to be as dedicated as I am to nature and to give my whole life to fighting climate change. Many years ago I asked the forest to heal me. And I promised I would spend the rest of my life fighting for it. And nature. And its survival. That was many years ago.

Back then a climate job seemed impossible. I cannot believe I’m living this dream right now and long may it last forever… I pray.

Beautiful houses at night lit up by a streetlight. A hill in the background and a skyline of trees. A black silhouette of trees against a deep midnight blue sky. It is not yet fully dark. It is so beautiful.
