Opening the Cypress App, part III

Image
Opening the Cypress App, part III Day 3 of doing this. "Adding npm scripts". "While there's nothing wrong with writing out the full path to the Cypress executable each time, it's much easier and clearer to add Cypress commands to the scripts field in your package.json file."  Based on this... ... I think that I was meant to add a "cypress: open" command to my scripts and so I did. Yay! This was a very very big first step for me as I am not used to adding scripts myself to the package.json . How exciting!  I DID IT and I ACTUALLY MANAGED TO OPEN THE APP. YAYYY this is so amazing wow. And now I can move onto the next two documentations tomorrow... this one and this one.

Opening the Cypress App, part II

Image
Opening the Cypress App, part II Continuing with the challenge that is reading this documentation . Asking Chat GPT, as always To help me to read things CYPRESS IS VERSATILE. Y'ALL. MY FRIENDS.  CYPRESS IS VERSATILE. CYPRESS IS VERY VERY VERSATILE.  IT IS GOOD TO KNOW THIS.  OH MY GOODNESS. I am feeling so overwhelmed I am feeling so overwhelmed, as always But that is okay, I am going to keep on going. What does the summary say ("What does the fox say?" Okay good luck getting that out of your head now thank you). Why is it versatile? CYPRESS IS VERSATILE because it - IT HAS TWO MAIN ASPECTS. It has two main aspects It has two main aspects. It can be used as a CLI tool. I can interact with commands with it using my terminal.  It is a fully functional JS library.  Also It can be seamlessly integrated into Node scripts. THEY HIGHLY RECOMMEND INSTALLING IT THROUGH NPM.  As this grants access to various CLI commands. And it expands Cypress's ability beyond a testing tool.

Renewable Energy "Me Time"

Image
Renewable Energy "Me Time" Because my renewable energy time is my "me time". And my time when I write about my AI in the renewable energy transition research is the highlight of my day. I love my research. Picking Up On Where I Left Off Of Yesterday So yesterday we were talking about how AI can be used to validate sources of data in the renewable energy industry. There is a lot of open source data, but we cannot always be sure of how valid it is. Another beautiful Pylon photo from my friends living just outside of Prague in the Czech Republic. I love them so, so, so much. AI can help us to save time and money, and increase efficiency, in the energy industry by helping us to validate all this data. For example AI can be trained in recognising wind turbines through image recognition. Then it can go through all of the coordinates of supposed wind farms and assess whether these are correct or not by matching all of the images of what is there to wind turbine recognition

All The Stars

Image
All The Stars I want to come out. But not in the way you might expect. I want to come out as someone who loves electricity with all my heart. I can't hide it anymore. Photo I took this weekend at the Shell Grotto in Margate. I find my peace and happiness there.  I find my grounding there. I never find God faster than I find Him in electricity. I never find love faster than I find it in the electricity.  Who am I? I love pylons. I love pylons more than anything else in the world. I can be walking down the street and suddenly I will feel the need to stop.  I will look up and I will look around and I will see a pylon. I love hydroelectricity. I went on a school trip to some hydroelectric dams when I was 15. I have never felt stronger and more powerful in my life. And I didn't even know what they were at the time. And I didn't know I liked electricity. I love wind turbines. They represent such great healing for me. I love wind farms. At the end of the journey, there I find wind

Opening the Cypress App, part I

Image
Opening the Cypress App, part I Oh man.  I am so far out of my comfort zone. I am reading this piece of documentation.  I have no idea what in the absolute fresh hell I am doing. Screenshot of the web page I am currently on. Somebody HALP ME PLEASE Okay, so, what does this document even say? I don't know. It's 4.28 pm. I have ADHD. I can't read. Chat GPT can you help me? Chat GPT says: This document guides you on starting your testing journey with Cypress. I repeat, this document guides you on starting your testing journey with Cypress. Covering topics such as: launching Cypress  launching Cypress FROM THE COMMAND LINE Adding npm scripts for convenience Adding npm scripts for convenienice Understanding CLI tools understanding CLI tools. navigating the launchpad to choose testing types navigating the launchpad to choose testing types. And there's some more here Wait!!! I'm not done. What more is there here? It says here that you can use the Launchpad, not only to CHO

You Know They Shine For You

Image
You Know They Shine For You "All the stars that shine above my head. You know they shine for you." - Princess Chelsea, All The Stars Continuing my trend of quoting song lyrics by Princess Chelsea. I had the most magical and healing of all weekends. I went to the Shell Grotto in Margate. Dozens of pictures are due to follow. But for now just have one of Princess Chelsea. Album Artwork. An Example of AI in Renewable Energy Energy data has often confused "investors and developers" in the field of renewable energy. However image recognition - an early form of AI - can "play a huge role in validating open-access data." What it seems to be saying here is that AI can help us by validating whether or not open-access data is indeed correct. Basically put, there are huge amounts of data available in the renewable energy and industry, openly and freely.  However it is basically about validating how accurate these data are. AI Scanning for Images For example, take a w

Cypress Testing

Image
Cypress I don't understand anything. It's a testing framework. I am using this blog post as a tool so that I don't go mad. I am watching a video on it right now. Cypress is "A tool for RELIABLY testing ANYTHING that runs in web browser." Cypress is "completely tech stack agnostic." Cypress is "free and open source". Wow that is so cool. It is free. Cypress has a really nice mission behind it. "Any time spent learning Cypress is time well spent." Cypress Testing The Absolute Best Testing Tool For the Industry The developers at Cypress have a laser sharp focus for creating the best possible tool for the industry. Installing Cypress npm install -D cypress I dunno if I need to do this or if workplaces install it for you. You get both a desktop app and a ... CI pipeline? I dunno I missed that. Y U SO HARD CYPRESS. Time Travelling Cypress allows you to time travel through your tests. Whatever that means. You can see all the "Actions th

I see a boy wondering how nobody figured it out

Image
I see a boy wondering how nobody figured it out Continuing from the previous trend, I am still naming this blog post after "Time" by Princess Chelsea. I don't know why.  I just had a little trend of naming all of my blog posts after songs or lyrics by her, and I wanted to continue to do that.  Losing Motivation I don't know what it is to lose motivation. But today I feel kind of low. I don't know why. Maybe it's time to pause and take a break sometimes. Maybe I should be more focused on and dedicated to pure engineering growth. A photo of Princess Chelsea from one of her music videos. But everything starts with a dream. Is this a dream? Or do I just do it out of love? Life can be really hard sometimes. you know. And sometimes it is time to take a break. "But it is not this day!". As Aragorn said in the Return of the King. Or as Princess Chelsea said " It's some kind of destiny". Regulatory Barriers To AI In Renewable Energy I am so comp

There you are, in my heart, all along

Image
There you are, in my heart, all along "There you are, in my heart, shine on. There you are, in my heart, all along." ✨ I am quoting my friend Alex Atwater, who is a wonderfully talented singer and musician. You can check him out on Instagram @thisluminousdarkness The Corn Goddess sculpture which I almost derailed my 1:1 this morning talking about today. Learning lessons Today brought with it an interesting lesson.  I love to post updates and I love to share them with the team. But I also love ruthless efficiency. Make no mistake of it. I might seem sweet. I might seem cute. But really I am the most focused person in the world ever on the inside. And the team is no exception. I want to ruthlessly contribute to that. And so in light of that I made myself exceptionally vulnerable today: I asked my PM and an Engineer on my team about the updates I was providing to the team.  The consensus was clear: Keep it short. Write out the ideas, And then break it down into headings so peopl

I see a girl wondering why her heartbeat can't keep up

Image
I see a girl wondering why her heartbeat can't keep up I am still naming every blog post after a quote or title from Princess Chelsea. This one still comes from her "time" song, same one as yesterday. I like it and it feels really therapeutic. It has a really magical feel to it. I listened to it yesterday after I had a really amazing conversation with my technical lead. We talked about how to maximise my learning resources and how to make the most of the time I had with my senior developers. I had a beautiful and lovely message from one of my former managers whom I love so, so much too.  It was really encouraging. It meant the world to me to hear from him. 😊 He offered me some really amazing words of support and encouragement around some of the challenges I am facing at work at the moment. And he was so insightful. Thanks for reaching out! 😍 It was so lovely of you to do so. 😍 Challenges Around Customers' Mistrust of AI Technology All new technologies must initiall

Time

Image
Time  "I see a girl, wondering why, her heartbeat can't keep up, I see a boy, wondering why, nobody figured it out. "   - Princess Chelsea, Time That's it, I'm doing it. I've long since wanted to name all of my blog posts after Princess Chelsea song titles and/or lyrics. And so that's what I will try to do, for the foreseeable future. Challenges of AI in Renewable Energy Now I'm moving on to the second section of  the EY article on AI and Renewable Energy.  This section is called:  "The challenges of applying AI across the sector". Although the impact of AI across the renewable energy sector is undoubtedly going to be huge, there are many many challenges associated with its integration. The Vulnerabilities and Risks of AI in the Renewable Energy Sector It is concerning that relying on AI too much in the renewable energy sector could leave us vulnerable to cyber attacks. As someone who has been researching these things for months -  I can defi

American

Image
American "American" by Lana del Rey is one of my favourite songs, ever ever ever. I remember buying a journal when I first visited Liverpool back in 2014, and I had to write down my favourite ever song lyrics. "You make me crazy, you make me wild, Just like a baby, spin me 'round like a child." I could've never predicted that 10 years later this would still be on of my favourite songs. So therefore, it's always worth trusting your instincts. Vít Luštinec, Wikipedia I love the American Flag so so much. In case you haven't realised after long enough of working with me and/or following me, it is a symbol of healing for me. Unfortunately, I can't say why. 🏈 AI Spotting Problems Prevents Them From Trickling Further Down The Line (And Prevents A Domino Effect). Working on this article . AI has the ability to "root out system malfunctions immediately," which can also help to "prevent a chain reaction". Okay let me try to say thing a

Void (feat. Cnebce)

Image
Void (feat. Cnebce) "Void (feat. Cnebce)" by Idrissi, and Malket, is one of my favourite songs from all of my many coding-themed and electricity inspired playlists. Album artwork for "Void (feat. Cnebce) by Idrissi and Malket. "A bit of music" It's just the gift that keeps on giving, and I can never get bored of it at all. It just suits me no matter what mood I am in. How rare is that? Songs like that are worth their weight in gold. And then some more. And that's what I said about my mentors in my recent Silicon Brighton interview. I love my mentors so, so much. I am so grateful for them, and they are so lovely. Thanks! p.s. You may be wondering why I included the full song title, as well as the title of the featured aritist, as the title of this blog post - well the answer is no reason actually. I just like the title of the full song, including with the featured artist. This is the way that it shows up on my Spotify, so why not? AI and Battery Storage

When we leave all the parties

Image
When we leave all the parties "When we leave all the parties, When we're not in our bodies, When we're up in a spaceship,  That's when I feel the greatest " - Mallrat, Wish On An Eyelash After one day of another song we are back to Mallrat's "Wish On An Eyelash". HOW CAN ANY SONG BE SO AMAZING. A ONE-MINUTE MASTERPIECE. Continuing with the EY article With better predictions of renewable energy production, done by AI, we can better plan how we use the non-green power plants better; for example gas and coal electricity production. With a clearer overview, and a better picture, of the renewable energy that we are going to produce, we can afford to be less cautious with our backup energy. This is good because we normally have to take a lot of precautions with the power grid. If we run out of power - distributors can have a lot to pay - and it causes major inconveniences for people - and it could be potentially dangerous (e.g. to people who are on life-su

You have to give it all in all your life, all the time.

Image
You have to give it all in all your life, all the time. "'Cause, little by little, We gave you everything you ever dreamed of, Little by little, The wheels of your life have slowly fallen of, Little by little, you have to give it all in all your life, and all the time, I just ask myself why you're really here?" - Oasis, Little By Little I performed this song with a group of my mates, Danny, Alex, Stephen, Thomas, and Andy, back in November, and it was a big success. I thought it was great to bring a female voice to it, and I was singing an octave higher. Maybe that's what I'm doing in tech. Singing an octave higher. I am usually the only woman in the "room", in nearly all of my meetings. Don't higher notes make the songs more beautiful, if they are mixed in as well? Don't they make it more interesting? Isn't my voice valuable and doesn't it matter, in the beautiful beautiful world of renewable energy, in this mad mad world of tech? F

You take a stand when you wanna make it right

Image
You take a stand when you wanna make it right "You take a stand when you wanna make it right, Constantly mistaken that I can't say why enough" - Bayonne, I Know Bayonne is definitely one of my favourite artists in the world. This is definitely one of my favourite songs in the world, too. I often quote it on here. There are a lot of lines that I like, from this song, and from others too, that I wanna quote today: "I think I got it right"; - hopefully that reflects the fact that I made the right decision to become a software engineer. That I might the right decision to pursue this life path in renewable energy. "Daniel, when I first saw you, I knew that you had, a flame in your heart." - This last one is from a song called "Daniel" by Bat for Lashes. And this is me. This is me. That is me, that is me.  I have a flame in my heart. I have a flame in my heart. 🔥 A lone church stands at the foot of the mountains at the edge of a lone lake in the

I'M ON FIRE

Image
I'M ON FIRE Today's blog post references the "Fire" song by Kasabian. Of course, there is also an amazing song, "I'm on fire", by Bruce Springsteen, which I love as well. But today "I'm on FIIIIIIIIIIIIRE", as in the style of Kasabian, because: I am getting on with my evidence portfolio write-up for my apprenticeship, solving lots of challenges from my technical lead, and getting on with my blog posts as well. Yet another beautiful photos from my beautiful friends in the Czech Republic, near Prague. 💜 I think angels surround ya I have found (discovered, uncovered...) an abundance of articles about renewable energy and AI. It's as though the internet can't keep itself from sharing all of them with me. I love it and it's so so beautiful. It's just beautiful, and I love it, I love it, thanks. As such my plan to write a blog post about just sensors today won't go ahead. I will push on with my current article . P.S. I found

I'm Not Done

Image
I'm Not Done "One thing I know for certain, ooh I'm pretty sure, It ain't over, I'm not done." - Fever Ray, I'm Not Done I was profiled today by Silicon Brighton, in the most beautiful piece, in the most beautiful article in the world, but I don't want it to distract me from my focus - I don't want to distract it from my work at all - or to make me feel that my work is already done - but I don't think that it could do that or it will do that -  A beautiful photo of some pylons from my friends in the Czech Republic, once again 💛 Withstanding all the time, changes and seasons I just want to do a very quick post today,  I learned two really interesting things yesterday. 1: The role of AI in renewable energies, and the need for other technologies in order to integrate them and use them to their peak In order to use AI and renewable energy technologies to their peak, and the absolute superpower combination that they are when they are combined tog
