My love for the earth is “withstanding all the time, changes and seasons”

Finding your passion means coming back to something again and again.

It means starting over again and again. Never afraid to start over too many times.

Never afraid to fall in love with what you do too many times.

Never afraid to ask yourself what your goals are too many times. So go on then. What are my goals? What are my priorities?

When I come back from my holiday (currently at the airport), what are my goals?

Here are my top priorities

  • I was working on a Django tutorial for my mentor to help me on my current (rather complex) ticket at work. I had finally gotten up to the lesson he really wanted me to get up to.
  • This one was on Django ORMs and methods like objects.get(), objects.filter(), and save()
  • When I get back to work I will prioritise finishing up to this section of the tutorial (no need to finish the whole thing) - well I mean I can finish the whole thing if I want to although I probably won’t - but the main thing is that once this section of the task will be over I need to go back to the original software engineering problem that I was trying to solve. Back to writing the code!
And then what?
  • I need to continue with my intermediate Python course and my very long long lasting lessons on OOP
  • I was on Polymorphism
  • This will be my task for end of day, slightly after work, and whenever I am truly blocked or stuck on something, waiting for help, waiting for work, or just need a little break from everything.
And that’s it!
  • I am writing a talk for the associates which I hope will really help them
  • It is about the transition from coding into software engineering
  • And it is going to be about breaking things down into ever smaller pieces and ever smaller parts
So I am going to need a lot of my old blog posts to do this.

A recent one on here where I talk about traversing the steps and going up and down within levels (it was on Monday I believe!).

And then lots of ones from software engineering princess. Like on the beauty of code. And on breaking things down into ever smaller and smaller toasters.

And the one on types and interfaces. And I am going to give an example of breaking down code into steps.

So first a codewars problem and then comments and pseudo code and then a code solution. Thanks.

This is going to be a long session!

A magazine photo of the Yosemite national park; it is showing the half dome in a reddish light, and the river, and some trees.
Bought a national parks magazine at the airport. Love it so much. I’ve bought it before but turned it into a scrapbook. This one is to read. Thank you.

Why Yosemite

Because my love for software engineering is like the song „Yosemite” by Lana del Rey.

It is „withstanding all the time changes and seasons.”

Because it can be hard sometimes.

Tell me that my dedication and my passion is not hard sometimes.

When I come to my holiday feeling as tired and as desperate for a break I need as I do right now - it is hard. But also simultaneously I feel sad at the prospect of having to stop my Python course for a week and a half. I know it will be easier when I get home.

Green was colour of the grass when I used to read at Centennial Park

I will probably disappear into the attic or go off into the woods or watch spiritual YouTube on the giant TV (what? I just said it. I’m so sorry). Conscious.tv have some really great interviews.

I may or may not continue blogging.

But no matter what I know I have this great great privilege and this great great gift to have something I love so much that I do. To have something that brings me closer to God and allows me to express their presence.

I go ever ever and deeper into my love for Python, into my exploration of Python. I remain focused on the fact that these languages and frameworks that I learn could eventually provide the tools that will help save the planet. And protect and save the earth I love so much.

The earth I love beyond anything else.

Because my love for the earth is „withstanding all the time, changes and seasons.” And I love the wind farms too and thank you. 🏞️🏞️
