Sitting Still Through A VSCode Course, Part 2
Sitting Still Through A VSCode Course, Part 2
Ahem.
After a year of Pycharm, I am learning to be good at VSCode. So here we are.
Part 2 of this series. As the most AuDHD person alive (well, one of them) it is going very very slowly. Let us continue then.

Talking about the vs code built in terminal. And other buttons.
Okay which section am I in? Which chapter am I in? This kind of things helps me to focus. Wait, lost. Totally lost. Oh so you can do
command shift [ / commamd shift ]
to move back and forth between files.
Just like in Pycharm!
Suffering on
OMG
YOU'VE GOT SWITCH EDITOR
AND SWITCH GROUP. The nice man instructor person
Says to just drop down menus and look at what the options are
MY OPTIONS ARE OF COURSE DIFFERENT FROM THE DUDE'S IN THE RECORDING
But I get the idea. Look at options. Hit tabs at the top and look at what the menu options are. Just to get an idea of what is possible.
OMG THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT LAYOUT OPTIONS OMG.
okay so I TRIED THE COMMAND ONE AND COMMAND 2 THING.
THAT IS JUST CRAZY. I CAN JUMP ROUND BETWEEN EDITOR WINDOWS
OKAY LIKE WOW. NOW WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT LAYOUTS AND HOW DO I GET TO THEM PLEASE? THANKS
Continuing Forwards
I'll check in a moment. Okay so you can also just drag editor windows around. Okay you can do groups or something. Can't find them locally on my IDE, Who cares.
We are looking at and talking about very complicated setups. Optimising patterns is good. Can't memorise everything Steve is saying. Lots of options to jump between editors and groups. COMMAND P IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. WITHOUT THE SHIFT
THIS IS FILES
YOU CAN SEARCH FOR ANY FILES IN YOUR CODEBASE.
OKAY ARRRGH.
Continuing More
OKAY COMMAND P JUST SEARCHES IN FILES
OKAY THAT IS COOL
REMEMBER
COMMAND SHIFT P - COMMAND PALETTE
COMMAND P - FILES
WE WILL MESS IT UP SOMETIMES
AND THAT IS OKAY
THAT IS OKAY TOO THANKS
BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS - THE CHEVRON
SO IF YOU DO COMMAND SHIFT P AND YOU MEANT TO DO COMMAND P - YOU CAN REMOVE THE CHEVRON
OR IF YOU DO COMMAND P AND YOU MEANT TO DO COMMAND SHIFT P
YOU CAN ADD THE CHEVRON
NICE NICE NICE
NICE
THE TAKEAWAYS
Key takeaways - again
IF I CATCH MYSELF THINKING
Why am I doing this manual task? Why am I not thinking about the code? Think about why and then try and learn the quick command
You can open the same file in two windows but why would you wanna do that?
YOU CAN ALSO HAVE ZEN MODE
FOR BUDDHISTS LIKE ME
But not great for coding
Command option tab: no idea
